History
My grandfather Trenton left Gooseberry ranch to attend the University of New Mexico when he was eighteen. While there he fell in love with a fellow student Natasha Bennington. Both of them were on the rodeo team there. They were married before they graduated, and started to have a family shortly after they graduated. They both had similar interests and wanted a big family. They settled on a ranch that they built the house themself having two little boys. The first one was my father Mordecai. The baby was Jeremiah. They were happy living there till cattle rustlers started to steal the cattle that they were trying to raise.
The second time they struck my grandmother was out riding the range, and came up on them. They shot her, and she didn’t make it. My grandfather was heartbroken when he found her. Unable to stay there he moved them to a small town called Ruidoso, New Mexico. It wasn’t far from the Mescalero Indian reservation, which didn’t bother him at all. He had a few friends that were full blooded Apache, and he trusted them more than some white men. He had a small ranch about five miles from town, and even hired some of the Apache to work on his ranch when he had it up and going.
From time to time he’d even date one ignoring how the townsfolk felt about the Indians. This wasn't the 1800’s he always said, and wasn’t about to live with any kind of prejudice. From time to time he’d make a trek back home to his family home in Tucson Arizona taking his boys with him to visit. He was close with his nephew Sanders who was about the same age as him. No matter how much his older brother and Sanders would try and get him to move back to the family ranch he’d just tell them no. The ranch was handed down to the eldest son way back in their heritage, and he wanted his own place to hand down to his sons, and grandsons.
My dad grew up alongside Starlight whose parents worked on the ranch. Going from friends, to best friends to falling in love over the years together. They had an elaborate wedding on the ranch with only family and friends. The family from Arizona came, and stayed for about a week celebrating the newlyweds. Unfortunately the week was short, and they were headed back home. They joined in building a home for themselves when they came back from their honeymoon a couple of miles from the main house.
Time passed, and my parents started having their family. Foster was the first born, and two years later they had Madden. Rhodes was born three years later. It was another four years before they had Valiant. Flint was born two years later, and then I came along two years later, the baby of the family, Creed. Growing up there on the ranch was the best. We were all close, and had one another’s backs. The outside world didn’t bother us there. We were even homeschooled. Which, back then I didn’t understand why, but I feel like we probably learned more that way.
My mom taught all of us the Apache way of working with horses, and we learned from our grandfather and father too. As well as Uncle Jeremiah. Well she was just getting started with me since I was only two when she and dad were killed. My brothers have all given me guidance, but I feel jealous that they got to have her longer than I had. Though Flint was only four, that was still two more years than I had. I don't even remember where I was born as we moved shortly after they died when dad lost his nephew here in Tucson, and he took us back to his birthplace.
I grew up here in Tucson going to school unlike my oldest brothers starting in preschool. Course though with all the home schooling they had they were way ahead of the curriculum here in Tucson. Luckily they were able to help me out since I didn't even learn to read till I started school. I liked being outside doing adventurous stuff though instead of learning so I was more towards the bottom of my class. Not like I cared anyhow. I hated having to read till I read a book about Dungeons and Dragons, and then I was hooked. I begged my gramps to get me more books about Dungeons and Dragons.
Over the years my bookshelf has filled up with D&D books much to my delight. I even go back and reread them every chance I get. My older brothers would pick me up books too on their travels and other things. Kids at school teased me about Dungeons and Dragons calling me a nerd. Didn't know how I was a nerd though when I didn't like studying or anything. I found a few others that liked the theme, and we started a group playing the game. Which developed into actually playing it out. Gramps let us use a part of the mountain to do so. My older brothers helped build the area for us where we played. Maybelle would video us so we could watch them later. We would have a campout and watch it on a big screen outside.
On weekends we weren't playing D & D. I had Motocross along with my older brothers. It was fun flying through the air, and taking the lead in my races. It was a thrill I got like any other. We traveled all over for these events having fun with the Mathesons and some of the other kids in the local SOA charter.
By the time we were in junior high though there were only a few of us left, and the others only showed up once in a while. After a while nobody showed up on the weekends. I guess our fun was over by then. My brothers still teased me about it. One of the boys that I wasn't friends with anymore started picking on me in school. Eighth grade was about over, and I was just trying to ignore him. One day they jumped me after school as I was walking over to the high school to ride home with one of my older brothers.
When I came to the EMT's were there working on me. I was in and out as they took me to the hospital. I barely remember bits and pieces knowing my gramps and older brothers had shown up at some time or other. I'd suffered a concussion, broken ribs, and multiple contusions. I was out of it for a few days. My friends in the club had found out who had jumped me, and they retaliated. I don't really remember much about being in the hospital, and I was there for a few days. I missed the last two weeks of school. That was the least of my worries though with the pain that I was in. At least they gave me pain relievers to subside it.
Going into summer was a bitch though till I healed as hot as it was getting out. I stayed pretty much in the air conditioning with my brothers splitting my chores between them. I had gotten a whole stack of new Dungeon and Dragon books and movies. Even after what happened to me I didn't let that deter me from reading and watching the movies. Gramps would join me once in a while watching the movies. Grams would make cookies and other kinds of treats for me. Her specialty was limeade slushies. Gramps and I would sit out on the back porch enjoying those, and my brothers would take breaks joining us for one.
Once I was healed I had to do my own chores again, though it took me some time to get back into a routine so my brothers without my knowledge were still helping me. Toward the middle of the summer I was almost back to myself. I hadn't been to town since I had been jumped, and I was already dreading having to go to high school this coming year. Being a freshman was going to be hard enough, but having to worry about my nemesis wasn't going to help at all.
We had the big 4th of July celebration on the ranch with all of the sons and their families like every summer. It was the highlight of my summer so far. The weekend after the fourth though my gramps told me to get in the truck bright and early on Saturday morning. We drove out in the country farther to where there was a camp-like place. Gramps introduced me to a couple of local College professors who had a LARP camp there. It was a larger and full scale Dungeons and Dragons pretty much. I was hooked, and loved it. Gramps stuck around not wanting to leave me alone. I was welcomed though and got to enjoy the day.
I was invited back to play again the next weekend. Gramps came with me and stayed in one of the cabins at night while letting me have my fun. He'd even gotten me the most awesome Larp costume, and I loved it. I had a blast that weekend making new friends, and couldn't wait to go back again. The next weekend Gramps let me stay on my own. Gramps had to go to New Mexico the next weekend, and my older brothers were heading to Sturgis so he let me go with them. I was excited about finally getting to go. I got to join in with the other Tucson kids forming the Jr club there along with Flint. All four of our older brothers were Sons along with the Matheson older boys.
The trip pretty much turned into chaos which the Matheson kids said it usually wasn't this way. I stuck around Foster and Madden during the last week of the trip riding with one of them sort of afraid to venture out after the attacks on the camp the week before. Still though they had tried to make it fun for me. I was glad to get back home afterwards. It had been a long trip though. Gramps was back by the time we got home.
A few days later the Mathesons decided to move to Washington, California, joining the new charter there. There was a new high school being built for the club. A school for Motorcycle kids. Which sounded intriguing. I really didn't want to be going to high school here. Flint wasn't being himself I noticed after the Matheson twins had left for Washington. Our cousin Jenna was married to their older brother and had moved with them. I wondered if it was Berk or Raph that Flint liked. I wasn't about to ask though.
I just watched him, and I figured out he was going to try and leave to go join them. He'd stashed his saddle bags out in the barn farthest from the house and parked his bike there too. I got a wild hair and decided I wanted to go. So I packed what I thought I would need. Only problem though all I had was my dirt bike for motocross. I still had two more years before I could legally ride a motorcycle on my own in Arizona. I looked up California law and saw it was sixteen too which sucked. Still I hid my own bags and got my bike close to where his was.
Just my luck I got us both caught, and I figured Flint was more than pissed with me now. Foster ended up dragging Madden home who pretty much stayed at the clubhouse anymore. I finally got a word in edgewise by yelling. Asking for my chance to talk which surprised my older brothers. Making my gramps eyebrows raise. Usually I just kept quiet knowing I wouldn't get a word in edgewise with as many older brothers as I had. I finally opened up about the last year of junior high, and that I was scared to go back knowing the ones who had jumped me would be there. I didn't rat Flint out figuring I had it pegged right why he wanted to go there.
Gramps being his overprotective self as usual said there was no way we were going on our own there. Even if Jenna was there. After what had happened to me he was more protective than before. All of us were shocked when Madden spoke up saying he would go. He'd be responsible for us for the school year. He hadn't been himself for the last year since he'd gotten arrested for something. Nobody would tell me why he had been arrested. Then his beloved horse Apache was stolen and murdered which totally changed him.
Gramps was studying Madden, and I was afraid he would say no so I was shocked when he finally said alright. He'd made the arrangements for us himself. He'd be coming to check on us as well he warned us. Told me and Flint that we needed to listen to Madden, and follow the same rules we did here at home. I had let out a whoop, but quickly agreed to what Gramps was telling us. The next day Gramps called William Waldorf Astor after getting his number through Ren Matheson, and made the arrangements. We'd have a house waiting on us close to the Mathesons, and Flint and I would be enrolled in school there for the upcoming year. Gramps also with the help of Maybelle repacked my saddle bags, and packed up getting me and Flint what we would need for the new school year.
Our stuff and dirt bikes would be sent after us. I have to admit I let a few tears go saying goodbye to Gramps, Grams, and my older brothers staying behind. Then I climbed on the back of Madden's bike who told me to let him know if I needed a break, and we were off. I was definitely tired on the first day's trip. We stopped in Las Vegas overnight, and Madden let us go out for a bit though he stayed right with us. The next night we stopped in Reno, staying at the clubhouse there in Reno. Then we were off on the last leg of our journey to Washington which was only about another hour and a half from Reno. Madden was only keeping us on the road during the day, and not at night unsure of the roads.
I couldn't wait to see Jenna. I had called her up right after our family meeting, and let her know we were coming to Washington. Flint and I were going to get to go to the new biker school! She was surprised, but she said we'd have fun out there. I know she called Gramps and they talked for a while after I had talked to her. They were still on the phone an hour later when I had gone to bed. We just went past Lake Tahoe stopping and checking out the water, before heading on the last leg of our journey.

Rayne sat away from the others somewhat. As it seemed like everyone was paired off but for him. Or they were with their friends. They’d been back from Sturgis for only a few days, and his dad, Rowdy, and Cain were throwing a bash at their place to try and take off some of the stress from what the trip had been. The Oklahoma boys and his dad, and Cain were taking turns getting up on the stage and singing. Oh and even Clyde had gotten up and sang. Their kids called out songs for them to sing, and they’d pick one from one of them. Of course his dad hadn’t asked him. It was mainly his baby brothers and once in a while Rafe or Ryder would yell out one.
Sturgis hadn’t really been any fun and he and his brothers had never gotten that tattoo that he designed. With all hell breaking loose everyone was on high alert the next week so his father and brothers had forgotten about it. He’d slept off and on that next week after what had happened to him. At least the stitches had gotten taken out finally so he didn’t have that discomfort. Though it still aches some, and Stephanie had said it probably would for some time as hard as he had been hit. It itched and bothered him, but he refrained from messing with it not wanting to get it infected as it was healing. The bruises were still there, but not as bad as they had been.
His dad’s attention today was either on Rosanna or his baby brothers most of the time. Feeling tired and left out he got up to head inside to his room. Rafe and Ryder’s attention was on their new found girlfriends. His gaze fell on Athena then who was talking to some of the other kids in the Jr Club, and there were a couple of guys that she was laughing and having fun with. He felt a pang in his heart, and weaved in and out of people to head inside. A stray tear ran down his cheek as he got inside, and he quickly brushed it away. He hissed in his breath at the pain when he had forgotten a moment about his wound. With a deep breath he headed up the stairs when he came up on them.
It wasn’t that much of a walk down the hallway to his room. The pounding of the music and the roar of the crowd outside was inside the house too, and it was giving him a headache. So all he wanted to do was lay down and take a nap. Opening his door a sound caught his attention. Looking up he gasped as there were a couple of guys in the room with their girls having fun on his bed as well as Simon’s bed. He gaped in shock for a few moments, before turning bright red not knowing what to do. He jumped when one of them yelled at him to get out. Quickly he ducked out his head pounding even more and realized then that he wasn’t alone upstairs as he saw others in the hallways too.
Looking up and down the hallways he noticed people going in and out of the theater rooms too. Walking down to his dad’s room he thought he might find some relief in there, but his dad must have locked his door. He tried Rowdy’s and Cain’s finding both of them locked. There was nowhere to go he realized, and he headed back down stairs trying not to cry. That wouldn’t look good in front of the sons around. There was a lot that he had no idea who they were. Including the ones that had been in his room having fun. Feeling lost and really left out he turned at the stairs and a drunk son knocked into him knocking him down. He saw stars when his head hit the corner of a baseboard. Laughter was heard, and then they ignored him. Sitting up he held his hand to his head, and when he pulled away there was blood on his head.
He cringed as his head was killing him even more now. Pulling himself up he hears something crash and shatter somewhere. His vision was a little blurry now, and he felt the blood trickling down his forehead. There had to be somewhere that he could go, and he thought of the garage. Making his way down that way he put the code into the door knowing it had been locked up for the party. His dad was taking any chances with his panhead with someone messing with it. Once the door shut behind him the sound was suddenly gone as the garage seemed to be soundproof. His ears were ringing though from the never ending sound from before.
With an unsteady breath he made his way over to his bike not even fighting the tears now. Sitting on it he laid his head down against the cool gas tank and the sobs came unable to stop them. He wasn’t feeling good at all, and when he lifted his head a while later there was a lot of blood on his bike. Had to be from where he had hit his head. A ride might help him feel better was his thoughts, and he got off pushing his bike out a side door, and around some bikes getting on his bike after making sure the garage was locked back up. If it wasn’t his dad, Rowdy, and Cain not to mention the others with bikes in there would kill him.
Starting his bike he rode down the driveway with the guards not even looking twice at him as there were sons and jr club members coming right and left. Tears were still streaming down his cheeks and there was still blood trickling down so his vision was still a bit blurred. Right now he didn’t care, he just had to get away, and hopefully clear his head. His dad and brothers as well as the others would probably never even notice he was gone. They were having too much fun. A while later he realized that the ride wasn’t helping, and he stopped not even knowing where he was. He hadn’t been this way yet. Only the other direction into town. The throbbing in his head was even worse, and all he wanted was his dad right now.
Turning his bike around he tried to wipe the tears away and the blood, but it wasn’t helping much. With a deep breath he headed back. With his vision obscured, he didn’t see the cloud of dust coming down a dirt road not far away. When he turned on the next road thinking he was going in the right direction the car came out of nowhere. Unable to stop he ran right into it, and he was suddenly flying through the air. The impact of hitting the road knocked him out.
